Concrete Driveways in Addison, TX
Concrete Driveways is one of the first things you see in a residential or commercial project. They are a great choice in the Dallas Fort Worth area because of the little to no maintenance and durability.
When looking into a concrete driveway it can make a lot of sense financially because of its longevity. Not only that but they are very easy to clean, and it can handle a lot of weight, multiple vehicles. You also have the option to go asphalt or pavers but they do not last as long. Concrete is the best choice for our climate due to the extreme heat we get. While asphalt can be more common in the north the southern heat can really exhaust and deteriorate quickly. It is very custom for concrete to be the choice for driveways in Texas.
The driveway is one of the first impressions on a home which is why we offer design and consultations. With concrete you have a variety of possibilities changing color, texture and pattern of the concrete. One cool thing about concrete is you can form it to mimic other materials such as wood, brick, or stone.

For the installation of the concrete driveway we follow the same procedure of our other concrete projects. We start out with an in person consultation figuring out your goals and coming up with the design of your choosing. Once we have a design in mind we move on to scheduling and planning. Day of, we start the site preparation, most of the time grading the soil, adding aggregates and correctly sloped to make sure we can get excellent drainage when it rains. This is one of the most important steps to ensure that your driveway will be built to last. Once the site is prepped we start adding the correct reinforcing usually rebar and wooden forms around the driveway. Finally, the pouring of the concrete and the nice broom finish.
After the concrete has been poured we add stress relief cuts into the concrete to allow spacing for the concrete to move as the soil expands and contracts over the years. The purpose of these cuts helps to minimize cracking. One big thing to keep in mind is these stress relief cuts are designed to prevent cracking but it is very natural for concrete to have a mind its own not play by our rules and form in its own way. Every so often we recommend inspection your concrete for cracks and addressing them sooner than later to prevent further damage.
One other thing we recommend is using sealant. Especially within the actual relief cuts as the soil begins to move usually it will find those relief cuts and form its own crack within. Whenever water seeps into these cracks it will continue to erode and expand those cracks. The best way to combat this is to fill those relief cuts with a polyurethane sealant to prevent water penetration. However keep in mind the sealants do require re-sealing around every 5-10 years depending on traffic.
